Paris, Verdière, 1821. 2 volumes in-8, havana half-calf with corner pieces, gilt fillets on the covers, spine decorated with large gilt and blind-stamped ironwork, palmettes and gilt fillets, blind-stamped fillets, protruding panels bearing the title and gilded frieze decorations, marbled edges ([Meslant]). 2 folios, CI pp. (prefaces and biography of De Foë), 430 pp. – 2 ff., 512 pp. – 20 separate illustrations. A rare edition featuring a portrait, 18 plates by Stothart engraved by Delvaux, Duvivier and Dupréal, and a fold-out map. A copy prepared by Meslant (the binding is unsigned) for the naval captain the Count of Oysonville (1784–1862), with a coat-of-arms bookplate. A fine, fresh copy; a pagination error in the preface, but no pages missing.
