Paris, Thomas Jolly, 1667. 2 volumes in-8, brown calfskin, gilt coat of arms on the covers, decorated spines, marbled edges (contemporary binding). 11 unnumbered folios, 520 pp., 2 folios of privilege – 3 folios, 533 pp., 1 folio errata. A very rare first edition, particularly when complete with the 7 full-page illustrations engraved by Sébastien Le Clerc. See Maxime Préaud, *Fonds Français*. A pastoral novel in the style of *L’Astrée*. Du Perret, about whom no biographical information is known, states in the preface that he set his shepherds in the age of Augustus in his native Provence ‘at the foot of a great number of high rocks which lie one hundred and fifty stadia from the ancient and famous Massilia…’.  A copy bearing the coat of arms of Louis-Urbain Le Fèvre de Caumartin (1653–1720).
