Paris: Mathieu Guillemot, 1634. A substantial in-8 volume, vellum (contemporary binding). 8 ff., 964 pp., 4 ff. First edition dedicated to Cardinal Richelieu. A ‘Celtic’ novel in which (according to the author) ‘he has struck a balance between Theagenes of the *Aethiopica* and Argenis by the learned Barclay’.  Biographers have shown little interest in this François Hotman, who may have been related to the famous Protestant polemicist François Hotman.
