[JUVENEL (Félix de)]. *Dom Pelage, or the Entry of the Moors into Spain*. Paris, Toussaint Quinet, 1646. 2 volumes, small 8vo, brown morocco, double gilt fillet binding, fleurons at the corners, ribbed spine entirely covered with arabesque decoration, gilt interior edging, morocco-edged slipcases (Devauchelle). Illustrated title page engraved and dated 1645, printed title page, 5 folios of dedication, 492 pp. – 1 folio titled ‘Second Part’, 616 pp. First edition published jointly by Toussaint Quinet and G. Macé. Losada Goya notes that this novel is one of the little-known sources for Pierre Corneille’s *Don Sanche d’Aragon*: “It is the story of a prince who is unaware of his identity, but who reveals himself through his exploits at the end of the novel”. A copy in fine Devauchelle bindings. Lever p.143 – Losada Goya 479 and 252 – Cioranescu 37122.
