[MALLEVILLE (Claude de)]. *La Stratonice*. Paris, Augustin Courbé, 1641. In-8, pale calfskin, gilt fillet binding, decorated spine (contemporary binding). Engraved illustrated frontispiece, printed title page, 5 unnumbered folios, 1 blank folio, 304 pp. – Title page (La suite de la Stratonice), 1 blank folio, 218 pp., 1 folio of privileges. Second, expanded edition of the sequel. French translation of Luca Assarino’s novel, first published in Parma in 1635. Pelisson, in his *Histoire de l’Académie française*, states that this translation was provided by the Academician Malleville to D’Audiguier the Younger, who acted as its publisher. The flyleaf bears the handwritten note ‘Parve, nec invideo, sine me liber ibis in urbem 1771’ (‘small book, I do not envy you; you will go to the city without me’) accompanied by a drawing.
