The Hague, P. Dehondt, 1739. 4 volumes in 2 in-12 volumes, marbled fawn calfskin, ornate ribbed spine, titles in red morocco, red edges (contemporary binding). Title page, XIV pp., 134 pp., 176 pp. – 156 pp., 204 pp., including the titles in red and black. First edition of this novel inspired by a news item that occurred in 1737: the abduction of a thirteen-year-old girl by a thirty-eight-year-old man.
