SAINCTE-SUZANNE (S. de MARTIN, Sieur de). The Loves of Climander and Aristaeus. Or, under assumed names, the loves of certain lords and ladies of the court are recounted. Paris, Nicolas Bourdin and Louis Perier, 1636. In-12, red morocco, framed with a triple gilt fillet, decorated spine, gilt interior lace, gilt edges (Hardy). 5 ff. (of 11), 320 pp. A new edition of this roman à clef, which was first published in 1629 under the title *L’Aristée*. ‘This novel is extremely rare and can only be mentioned here for the record. Bibliographers make no mention of it and its author is unknown to all biographers (...) It is a roman à clef that will doubtless never be unravelled,’ according to Fernand Drujon.  A copy finely bound by Hardy. From the library of R. de Boyer de Sainte Suzanne, with bookplate.
