Based on the copy printed in Paris [Amsterdam: Elsevier], 1680. 4 parts in 1 small in-12 volume, green morocco, framed with a gilt fillet, ribbed spine with gilt panels and ornamentation, gilt inner lace, gilt edges (Bauzonnet-Trautz). 165 pp. (Parts 1 and 2), 1 blank folio, 176 pp. and 2 blank folios (Parts 3 and 4). Elzevirian edition published in the same year as the original Paris edition, by Claude Barbin. A fine copy bound by Bauzonnet-Trautz, with a dedication by Pauline d’Ortigue on the flyleaf: ‘To my oldest friend Victor de Swarte, with affectionate regards from his oldest friend, 7 March 1894’. Victor de Swarte (Dunkirk, 1848 – Paris, 1917) was a politician who became a writer. Pauline d’Ortigue was undoubtedly a descendant of the author. Willems 1573 – Lever p. 23.
