Paris, Maradan, Year V–1797. 4 volumes in-12, light brown half-basane, smooth spines, spines with gilt fillets and lace, black title labels, marbled edges (Early 19th-century binding). First French edition of Anne Radcliffe’s masterpiece, translated by Victorine de Chastenay. Anne Radcliffe wrote this novel following a journey along the banks of the Rhine.  4 separate plates by Challiou. Second printing of the first edition; the first printing had no illustrations.
