First edition of this fictionalised polemical work in which Balzac lambasts pedants. It is adorned with a frontispiece drawn by F. Chauveau and engraved by N. Regnesson. A fine, elegantly bound copy from the library of P. Guy Pellion (1882, no. 649), with an ex-libris.
