Description
BILLAUT (Adam). *Le Vilebrequin* by Mr Adam, a joiner from Nevers. Containing all manner of courtly poetry, including sonnets, epistles, epigrams, elegies, madrigals, stanzas and other curious and entertaining pieces, on all manner of subjects. Paris, Guillaume de Luyne, 1663. In-12, red calfskin, covers and spine decorated with interlaced fillet panels, gilt interior edging, gilt edges (Romantic-era binding). 295 pp. and 5 pp. of tables. A reprint of the first edition, bearing the same date, but printed in smaller type. The collection was published by Bertier, Prior of Saincaise, shortly after the death of Maître Adam. From the Audenet libraries (1839, no. 275bis); Yemeniz (1867, no. 1845); Hector de Backer (1926, no. 756); and subsequently from the Bourg de Bozas Chaix d’Est Ange collection (1991, no. 174). A fine copy, elegantly bound in the 19th century.
