Description
[BUSSY-RABUTIN, SANDRAS DE COURTIL and others]. *La France galante, or Love Stories from the Court during the Reign of Louis XIV*. Cologne: published by Pierre Marteau, undated [c. 1695]. 2 volumes bound together as a single in-12 volume, in purple morocco, with gilt fillet framing, gilt coats of arms on the covers, a spine with raised bands and gilt panels featuring roses and garlands, gilt interior lace, and gilt edges (Trautz-Bauzonnet). 2 folios, 263 pages – Title page, pp. 265–492. This edition was published by the same printer as the first edition of 1688. It is illustrated with 9 engraved plates as inserts.  This is undoubtedly the 1695 edition cited by Lever on p. 169 with the same collation. It contains six stories: *La France galante*... , *Les Vieilles amoureuses*, *Histoire de la maréchale de La Ferté*, *Le Divorce Royal*, *Les Amours de Monseigneur le Dauphin avec la comtesse du Rouvre*. A copy bound with the coat of arms of Pierre-Louis de Colbert-Laplace. From the library of Raymond de Boyer de Sainte Suzanne (1899–1985), son of Jeanne de Colbert-Laplace, with bookplate.
