Lyon, at the shop of Jean Pillehotte, at Jean Caffin and François Pleignard, 1628. 2 volumes in a sturdy in-8 volume, speckled brown calfskin, gold-stamped coat of arms on the covers, spine decorated with arabesques and fleurs-de-lis (late 17th-century binding). 14 unnumbered folios, 442 pp., 515 pp. First edition of this collection of 60 short stories by the famous Bishop of Bellay, whom Henri Brémond describes as an ‘ingenuous Tallemant’. Endorsed by François de Sales himself, J.-P. Camus wrote numerous refined and devotional novels to lead his contemporaries to the faith through engaging stories.
