CHAPELAIN (Jean). *La Pucelle, ou la France délivrée*. Heroic poem. Based on the copy printed in Paris [Amsterdam, Jansson], 1656. In-16, blue morocco, framed with a triple gilt fillet, gilt fleurs-de-lis at the corners, decorated spine, gilt inner lace, gilt edges (Thibaron-Joly). 24 unnumbered folios, 362 pages, 15 folios of endpapers. This edition was published in the same year as the original folio edition from Paris. It is illustrated with 12 engraved plates, including the frontispiece, which are reduced versions of Claude Vignon’s illustrations from the original edition. A very fine copy.
