[EROTICA]. *The Cheerful Morning Wake-Up Call for Melancholic Souls, or The Preventative Remedy against the Sad* (...). Utrecht, Ackerdyck & Gisbert de Zyll, 1654. Small 12mo, lemon-coloured morocco, ribbed spine with gilt compartments and title, triple gilt fillet binding, interior lace, gilt edges (Thibaron). Title page, 366 pp., 8 ff. (table of contents). The first edition of this collection of humorous and risqué short stories dates from Leiden, 1643. Numerous other editions were published in Rouen, Paris, Cologne, Leiden and Utrecht up until the end of the 17th century. This particular copy appears to be rare.  A gem of the Elzevirian collections, copies of this book are often, as here, in luxurious 19th-century bindings.
