Description
[MENOU (René de)]. *Les Heures perdues de R.D.M*, by François Cavalier. In which melancholic souls will find remedies to dispel this vexing mood. (...). Rouen, Jean Berthelin, 1620. Small 12mo, red morocco, framed with a gilt fillet, plain decorated spine, red edges (19th-century binding imitating an 18th-century style). 2 ff., 367 pp. A collection of 27 short stories by René de Menou (1578–1651), first published in 1615 and reprinted several times in Lyon, Rouen and Paris. Short story III (‘L’Heure du berger’) reproduces the second anecdote from the first discourse of Brantôme’s *Dames galantes*. Title page scorched. Lever, p. 183, does not mention this 1620 Rouen edition, but cites another published by Berthelin in 1629.
