Gay III, 1028: ‘The finest, if not the best, of this sort of collection’ Lever, p. 373. According to Barbier IV, 374: ‘It is highly probable that Roquelaure is no more the author of this collection of jests than of the *Momus françois*’. He adds that it could be the work of Sieur Le Roy, the notorious plagiarist.
