Quarto, speckled brown calfskin, Du Seuil-style binding, coat of arms in the centre of the second cover, spine decorated with fleurs-de-lis (contemporary binding) 6 unnumbered folios (title page, dedication to the King, preface), 77 pp.  First edition, illustrated with 2 plates, including one fold-out, and 8 in-text illustrations, including 2 full-page ones. A polemical treatise, which is a critique and refutation of a book by J. J. Chifflet published in Antwerp in 1655, by Jean Tristan de Saint-Amant, gentleman of the King’s Chamber and numismatist (Paris, 1595 – 1656). The back cover bears the coat of arms of a member of the Cachedenier de Vassimon family of Lorraine. Saffroy 10534.
