[DORAT (Claude-Joseph)]. A Letter from the Count of Comminges to his Mother, followed by a Letter from Philomela to Progné. Paris, Jorry, 1765. In-8, red morocco, framed with a gilt scroll and gilt ornamentation at the corners, large coat of arms in the centre of the covers, plain gilt spine, gilt interior edging, gilt edges (late 18th-century Italian binding). Second printing of this edition, which is dated 1764. It is illustrated with 4 full-page engravings, 5 vignettes and 4 headpieces; one engraving is after Gravelot, the others by Eisen, engraved in intaglio by Aliamet and de Longueil.  Followed by: Petrarch’s Letter to Laura. Paris, id., 1765. – A Letter from Alcibiades to Glycera, followed by a letter from Venus to Paris and an epistle to the mistress I shall have. Geneva and Paris, id., 1765. Three pieces modelled on the Heroides. Copy on large Dutch paper. Fine Italian binding bearing the full coat of arms of Duke Édouard de Fitz-James (1776–1838), aide-de-camp to Louis XVIII and Peer of France. He had emigrated to Italy in 1789. Spine restored.
