Description
GHERARDI (Evaristo). *The New Italian Theatre*, or a comprehensive collection of the comedies performed by the King’s Regular Italian Actors. A new, revised and greatly expanded edition, to which the arias from the vaudevilles, engraved at the end of each volume, have been appended. Paris, Briasson, 1733. 9 volumes. – Plays from the New Italian Theatre missing from the 1733 edition. Paris, Briasson, 1753. 3 volumes. Set of 12 volumes in-12, marbled fawn calfskin, gilt coats of arms on the covers, decorated spines (contemporary bindings). A collected edition bringing together plays originally published separately at various dates, each with its own title and pagination. Each volume contains, at the end, engraved musical scores. Volume 8 contains Marivaux’s *Le Jeu de l’Amour et du Hasard*. The three supplementary volumes published in 1753 do not include any music.  A copy bearing the coat of arms of Guillaume Gabriel Pavée de Vendeuvre.
