In-12, speckled brown calfskin, coat of arms on the covers, decorated spine, red edges (contemporary binding). 293 pp. (the first 14 paginated in Roman numerals), 1 p. of approval, 3 ff. of privilege. First edition of one of Marivaux’s earliest printed works, written when he was aged 26. The short story *La Voiture embourbée* appears on pages 15 to 85. Followed by: *Le Roman impromptu, ou les aventures du fameux Amandor et de la belle et intrépide Ariobansane* (pp. 86 to 171); *Histoire du magicien* (pp. 172–293).
