Description
MARMONTEL (Jean-François). Works. Paris, Verdière, 1818–1819. 24 volumes in-8, pink half-calf with corner pieces, gilt fillet, ribbed spine decorated with gilt fillets and gilt and blind-stamped arabesques, black title labels and volume numbers, marbled edges (contemporary binding). A fine edition printed by Didot of Marmontel’s Œuvres, which were later supplemented by a 19th volume of posthumous works in 1820. It is illustrated with 38 separate plates after Desenne, Choquet and Lecomte, all in their original state in this copy.  A fine, fresh copy in a Romantic binding. A few small tears in the leather.
