THÉATRE des BOULEVARDS, or Recueil de Parades. Mahon, printed by Gilles Langlois, 1756. 3 volumes in-12, pale calfskin, gilt fillet binding, decorated spines, red edges (contemporary binding). First and only edition of this collection of fairground plays, often indecent, risqué, and at times scatological! *La Confiance des coccus*, *Le doigt mouille*, *Léandre hongre*, *Le Marchand de merde*, *L’Amant cochemard*, *L’Amant poussif*, *Léandre grosse*, to name but a few. The authors include Collé, Fagan, Piron and Moncrif. Engraved frontispiece repeated in each volume. From the library of Louis-Simon Auger (1772–1829), literary critic and playwright, with bookplate. The copy also bears his signature on all three endpapers, as well as a note in his own hand on the endpaper of the first volume. A fine copy.
