HALÉVY (Ludovic). L’Abbé Constantin. Paris, Boussod, Valadon, 1887. In-4, purple morocco, framed by a garland and double gilt fillets, ribbed spine with panels, gilded fleurons and title, gilded inner border, lined with silk, untrimmed, edges gilt on paper backing, original cover preserved, slipcase edged with purple morocco (Ch. Septier). Illustrated edition featuring 18 separate engravings (here in 3 states) and headpieces and tailpieces within the text by Madeleine Lemaire.  A copy of the first print run with the uncorrected error on page 116, one of 200 on Japanese paper, accompanied by a set of proofs printed in monochrome on Whatman paper and a set in bistre on Japanese paper.
