The TANE company, founded in Mexico City in 1942 by Sergio and Natalia Leites, has established itself as one of the most important silversmithing workshops in contemporary Mexico. Breaking with the historicist and neo-colonial repertoire that characterised much of Mexican production in the first half of the 20th century, TANE has developed a formal language inspired by the principles of International Modernism, whilst incorporating references to pre-Hispanic heritage and Mexican folk art. The quality of its craftsmanship is underpinned by the preservation of traditional artisanal skills, as well as its collaborations with renowned artists and designers. Its output, comprising table silverware, decorative objects and monumental pieces, is distinguished by the simplicity of its lines, its mastery of form and the excellence of its finish.
