Description
A Louis XV-period chest of drawers stamped ‘MONDON’ and bearing the Jurande hallmark
Tomb-shaped, with a curved front and sides, tapered legs, decorated with rosewood veneer and fitted with chiselled and gilded bronze fittings featuring rocaille foliage scrolls, fixed handles, lock plates, lamp bases, foot pieces and glides. It opens to reveal four drawers arranged in three rows, with the top right-hand drawer concealing a secret compartment. Red Rance marble top, probably fitted at a later date
