Description
Five fans, Europe and Asia, 19th century; - The first, circa 1890. The tulle panel is decorated with bobbin-lace flowers. The frame is made entirely of goldfish mother-of-pearl. Ring handle. Total height 33 cm (stains, damage) - The second: the silk panel is painted with forget-me-nots. The frame is made of re-drilled bone, engraved and painted with forget-me-nots. Total height 28 cm - The third, known as ‘palmettes’. The silk leaves feature engraved decoration in the 18th-century style. Bone frame. Height 25 cm - The fourth features a double paper leaf painted with a festive scene, perhaps for the Chinese New Year. The characters’ clothing and heads are in relief. Height: 28 cm (damage, minor losses) - The last one features a fabric leaf with a floral design. Wooden frame. Height: 29 cm (damage)
