Snuff boxes and case, Europe, 19th century. Lot comprising:
- A wooden case serving as a miniature display cabinet, decorated with friezes of white mother-of-pearl. The interior
is engraved with the name of the snuff-box maker, ‘Tahan à Paris’, who was active between the 1840s and the 1880s.
H. 5.5 cm
- A snuff box made of horn with a scalloped shape, featuring a silver band. It contains a set of engraved white mother-of-pearl tokens (China).
H. 7 cm
- A snuff box carved from a small piece of horn. H.t. 6.5 cm
- A rectangular horn box with the lid adorned with a silver-plated plaque
featuring a design of birds amongst bushes.
