Madame Récamier, France, early 19th century
An oval-shaped miniature depicting a bust portrait of a young woman against a misty landscape. She is wearing a white dress. Her hair is styled with a lock of hair falling over her heart. The portrait is based on the 1800 painting of Juliette Récamier (1777–1849) by Jacques-Louis David, held at the Louvre Museum.

Set in a rectangular frame made of burl wood. Gilded brass border decorated with stars.
