Description
French piece from the late 19th century Oval brooch in 800‰ silver and 750‰ rose gold, featuring floral and foliage motifs enhanced with fine button pearls and rose-cut diamonds. Pin in 750‰ rose gold. Rhomboid hallmark of the Théodule BOURDIER workshop. Pearl diameters: approximately 3.3 to 4.5 mm. Dimensions: 1.9 x 4.3 cm. Gross weight: 6.8 g. Théodule BOURDIER (1837–1898) was granted his hallmark in 1863. Through his marriage in 1872 to Marie Françoise Griffeuille, he became the brother-in-law of Alfred Cartier. Specialising in wedding baskets, Bourdier was one of the suppliers to the Imperial Court of Russia. He was awarded a gold medal at the Paris World’s Fairs of 1878 and 1889, and took part in the Chicago World’s Fair in 1893.
