Description
A pinchbeck (copper-zinc alloy imitating gold) and silver "porte-louis" purse, forming a dodecagon, consisting of a domed plate finely openwork with plant motifs and twelve tongues entirely chased with foliage and floral motifs. It opens and closes with a sliding chain system ending in a pompom on either side. Early 19th century. Rings damaged, slight dents. A similar model is in the Musée Cognacq-Jay in Paris. Diameter: 4.5 cm.
