Description
Beautiful Louis XIV two-hand onion, signed BIZOT in Paris (watchmaker to the Duchess of Orléans), circa 1700. Enamel embossed dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. Very fine verge movement with quarter repetition, Egyptian pillars. Attractive gilt, chased and openworked metal cock, striking on gong. Chased and openworked silver case. Diameter: 58 mm - Gross weight: 206.04 g (800 thousandths) NB: The watch was working at the time of the appraisal, the hands and the counter-pivot of the cockerel are later than the watch, repair of the dial with cold enamel at 5 o'clock, cracks at 8 o'clock.
