Description
CARTIER circa 1922 - Bracelet in platinum (900 thousandths) with barrel links adorned with diamonds, emeralds, coral and onyx (one coral barrel is missing from the bracelet and another from the clasp). Signed "Cartier" on the clasp and numbered "0770". Gross weight: 21.9 g - Length: 18.4 cm Provenance: Harty de Pierrebourg family, then by descent. A bracelet identical to ours was exhibited at the 1925 Arts-Décoratifs exhibition. At the post-war Modern Decorative Arts Exhibition in 1925, Cartier was one of France's representatives in the Pavillon de l'Élégance, along with Jeanne Lanvin, Worth, Callot and Jenny. The Café Society's freedom-loving clientele ordered hundreds of cigarette cases, compacts, travel kits, car kits, watches, cigarette lighters, desk accessories, clocks and bracelets like our own. In this Cartier showcase from 1925, you can see a beautiful cigarette case engraved with the signatures of Coco Chanel and Peggy Guggenheim.
