PAIR OF desk candlesticks in shagreen*, mounted in 925 silver, resting on four legs with leaf-shaped finials, the square base decorated with silver laurel garlands, the shafts in the form of cylindrical columns, the silver candle holders with beaded rims, (damage, missing parts) Silversmith: Samuel Jacob, London, 1908, Height: 12 cm. *Specimen made from the dermis of a stingray (galuchat) of the Dasyatidae family, of the species known as the ‘pointed-nose stingray’* or, synonymously, the ‘white-spotted whipray’ (Maculabatis gerrardi) *Species not regulated under the Washington Convention (CITES) or by EC Regulation 338/97 of 9 December 1996 or the French Environmental Code.
