Description
A silver bowl and lid; the body is plain, whilst the contoured handles are edged with godrons and chiselled with large rocaille motifs and jagged shells. The lid features fluted edges and moulded fillets, and is chased with friezes of scrolls, foliage, shells and cross-hatching on an amati ground. The knob is chased with an antique-style female profile on an amati ground.
Silversmith: difficult to identify; the initial is a C and the distinguishing mark appears to be a cross.
