Description
Eugène Alexandre, known as Evgeny Alexandrovitch, LANCERAY (1848-1886). The Cossack's farewell kiss. Model created in 1878. Patinated cast from the Kasli art foundry (stamped with a double-headed eagle), dated 1902. Height 21 cm. Minor damage and missing parts.
The Kasli foundry reached its apogee in 1900 with the presentation of an all-cast-iron pavilion at the Paris Universal Exhibition, made up of almost 3,000 components. It took 24 workers to assemble it, and the pavilion was unanimously acclaimed (now housed in the Ekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts).
