A chiselled, gilded bronze clock decorated with fluting, foliage, scrollwork with foliage, and a frieze of water leaves; the case flanked by a young woman in the classical style mourning the death of her bird resting in her hand, whilst a Cupid offers her another, and surmounted by a ewer. The base is in white marble. The enamelled dial is signed ‘CRONIER’ in Paris
Louis XVI style, freely inspired by an inverted design attributed to François VION.
