A substantial ecclesiastical-style ring in yellow gold (750) set with a large rectangular emerald-cut amethyst of approximately 20 carats. Stepped setting with a silver-plated border adorned with blue enamel cartouches featuring gold foliage and small 8/8-cut diamonds. Dated late 19th to early 20th century, inspired by the Neo-Byzantine style TDD 51. Gross weight: 20.1 g. Condition report: The centre stone is slightly scuffed along the edges; the setting requires attention. No hallmarks visible; slight areas of wear to the blue enamel. The amethyst, a stone symbolising wisdom and sobriety, is associated with Catholic bishops.
