Description
A lidded cylindrical ceramic pot with a beautiful cream-coloured glaze. The body, punctuated by subtle raised rings and flanked by two small side handles, is decorated in underglaze blue with a sage or a seated Buddhist monk holding a manuscript. This decor, with its scholarly aesthetic, is accentuated by a prominent calligraphic design that surrounds the figure and continues onto the lid. The piece rests on a circular, carved and openwork wooden base. Dimensions: H. 19 cm, D. 20 cm (excluding base). Condition: Appears to be in good overall condition. Normal signs of wear on the wooden base.
