Achille GROS (Epeugney, 1851 - Dole (?), 1911) River bank Oil on canvas, signed lower left 70 x 52 cm (Two small tears in the upper middle of the painting and a restoration (bandage) in the same place). Chips and slight cracks on the frame. Born in Ornans, Achille Gros was one of a number of painters from the Franche-Comté region who were deeply attached to their land. His favourite subjects are the emblematic sites of the Doubs: the Loue valley, the Ornans area, and the springs and remote areas characteristic of the Jura.
