Description
Victor PROUVÉ (1858–1943, modeller) for MOUGIN Frères (publishers), Nancy – Lorraine. *Les Moqueuses*. Art Nouveau sandstone sculpture depicting two young women. Early 20th century. Oval stamp of Grès Mougin and ‘6P [P for Prouvé]’ – the artist’s signature on the terrace and beneath the plinth. Height: 27 cm. The Musée de l’École de Nancy holds a version of this very rare group by Prouvé (inv. 140 – formerly the Corbin collection), created in 1902. This model by Prouvé was exhibited as early as 1904 at the Galeries Poirel (cat. 300, plaster). Provenance: the collection of Geneviève Aubry (1948–2025), Rosières-aux-Salines.
