Description
Sacred art. Wrought-iron communion wafer mould, engraved on a plate with two large round communion wafers featuring a motif of Christ on the cross and the IHS trigram, surrounded by a frieze of rays alternating with cherub heads, and two smaller ones featuring the Paschal Lamb reclining on an altar and the trigram. One side is smooth. 18th century. Length: 81 cm. Provenance: former collection of Dr Xavier Martin (1946–2005), part of which was donated to the Musée Lorrain in Nancy (exhibited in 2009–2010).
