Eugène BEYER (1817–1893), Alsace. A tavern scene in which a group of young women are teasing a young man, with one of them even pouring a liquid over his head! Signed in the bottom right-hand corner, with the brewers’ star. Mid-19th century. 38 x 46 cm. Minor restoration on the left-hand side. Beyer, a Romantic painter from Strasbourg, was honoured at the Salon in 1842.
