Title page of a doctoral thesis in philosophy defended in 1732 at the Collège de Jésus in Strasbourg by Georgius Anselmus Comes de SERPONTE of Milan. Dedicated to Monsignor Armand-Gaston-Maximilien de ROHAN (1674–1749), Bishop of Strasbourg in 1704, subsequently Grand Chaplain of France in 1713 and a member of the Regency Council in 1722. Engraved by Jean-François CARS (1661–1738), engraver, publisher and print dealer in Paris, on Rue Saint-Jacques. Decorated with putti and symbols of the arts, sciences and philosophy. 52.5 x 67.5 cm.
