Charles ANFRIE (1833–1905), after. “Sailor disembarking in Tonkin”. Bronze figure with a medallic patina. The inscription on the beret refers to the “Bayard”, Admiral Courbet’s battleship during the conquest of Tonkin in the 1880s. Set on a circular plinth, dotted with fearsome bamboo-spike traps. With a turned wooden plinth. Signed. Height: 48 cm (excluding plinth).
