DAUM Nancy. “René II, Duke of Lorraine”. Moulded-blown glass vase, etched, finished on the wheel, partially enamelled and gilded; obverse depicting the Duke of Lorraine on horseback, in armour, wearing a tabard bearing an alerion, with a feathered hood and holding his sword behind his head; reverse depicting the Porte de la Craffe, flanked by an alerion and a banner bearing the inscription ‘Priny, Priny’ (the battle cry of the Dukes of Lorraine); base, probably added later, in Minerve 1st title silver, with an enamelled decoration of the Cross of Lorraine. Master silversmiths: Labat and Pugibet (1877–1897). Circa 1895. Height 28 cm; width 20 cm.
