Emile FRIANT (1863–1932). The death of Captain Paul Echeman on 14 May 1912, during a failed landing. A print, signed, dated ‘1914’ and inscribed on the plate to his ‘colleague at the Aéroclub de l’Est, Mademoiselle Marvingt’; dedicated in ink in the lower right-hand corner by Marie Marvingt (1875–1963) herself to her “young colleague André Bichaton, worthy descendant of the master Friant, founding president of the Aéroclub de l’Est”. 43 x 60 cm. A second print by the same artist, entitled “Lorraine Returned to France”, signed in the lower left-hand corner and dated “1917”, is enclosed. (foxing spots; discolouration; small tears at the edges)
