Description
Folder for the doctoral thesis in philosophy defended in 1732 at the Collège de Jésus in Strasbourg, by the Milanese Georgius Anselmus Comes de SERPONTE. Dedicated to Mgr Armand-Gaston-Maximilien de ROHAN (1674-1749), Bishop of Strasbourg in 1704, then Grand Chaplain of France in 1713 and member of the Regency Council in 1722. Etching by Jean-François CARS (1661-1738), engraver, publisher and print merchant in Paris, rue Saint-Jacques. Decorated with putti and attributes of the arts, sciences and philosophy. 52.5 x 67.5 cm (tears; missing; folds; foxing).
