Émile ROBERT (1860-1924), Paris. Rare Art Nouveau wrought iron oil lamp with poppy design. Model presented at the 1900 Universal Exhibition. Height (without mechanism, transformed): 64 cm. Bibliography: the preparatory drawing for this lamp is reproduced on page 182 in Louis AUBRY, "La ferronnerie à l'exposition universelle de 1900", Revue des Arts décoratifs, XXe année, 1900. Émile Robert, a very famous ironworker, trained the country's greatest blacksmiths, notably Jean Prouvé, before the latter chose the path of design.
