Description
Jean KEPPEL (1874-1936), wrought-iron craftsman, and DAUM Nancy (Lorraine). Wrought iron Art Nouveau lamp base, decorated with plant motifs, signed "J. KEPPEL Nancy", holding a coloquint-shaped tulip, in yellow/translucent powder-tinted glass, ribbed and stretched with tongs. Signed on the DAUM Nancy wheel (with the Lorraine cross). Total height: 39 cm; tulip height: 14 cm. Jean Keppel was awarded a gold medal at the Exposition Internationale de l'Est de la France in Nancy in 1909. Specialising in "chandeliers of all styles and modern art", he worked in particular for Louis Majorelle. He briefly set up shop at 31 rue des Dominicains, before moving to 130 rue Mon-Désert.
